Training Pastors of the Least in Nairobi, KenyaDisciple Support Ministries focuses on training, encouraging, supporting and equipping pastors in Nairobi, Kenya to minister to their own people. The Ministry provides Bible instruction emphasizing clear understanding and practical application of God's Word.
Thank you for your most kind encouragement and prayers for the pastors, ministry and us during the past few days. The riots in the Mathare slum have ceased. Now the extent of the devasation is more clear to all. The numbers of homes destroyed was greater than reported. I walked through the slum Saturday after class with a team of pastors....in part to assist a pastor whose home was damaged. By the grace of God, none of the pastors were injured nor homes totally destroyed. I would estimate 200 families have lost homes...and at least 50 small businesses were destroyed. The fires came within 100 yards of the Bible School. The looting and mayhem was right outside the gate for 4 days.
It was and still is not feasible to take pictures...i attached one that was taken discreetly.
Please pray for the reconstruction and rebuilding of lives, homes and businesses amongst those who had so little to call their own. Please pray especially for the elderly.
